Lukaku’s physical problem worries Inter

Inter were left both disappointed and concerned after Romelu Lukaku looked a shadow of his former self in the draw with Monza.

The 29-year-old Belgian striker did not have a positive performance after coming on as a substitute in the 55th minute of the match, taking no shots, completing just four passes and losing all five duels he was involved in. Inter’s draw with Monza was a frustrating step back for the fans after their mid-week victory over league leaders Napoli, and Lukaku was emblematic of that loss.

As reported by La Gazzetta dello Sport, Lukaku entered the match against Monza anxious that he’d suffered a new injury in the win over Napoli. He is still dealing with inflammation of the tendon and the club are growing seriously concerned regarding his fitness.

One interesting detail also emerged during the Monza clash; Lukaku did not join his bench-mates for warm-ups on the touchline until 15 minutes after their initial arrival. He was inside the locker room undergoing necessary massage sessions, trying to get him match fit.

After just a handful of appearances across a few months since his return in August, Lukaku has not made an impact at Inter this season and now coach Simone Inzaghi is left in a tough spot.
