Super Falcons captain Onome Ebi on Wednesday celebrated her 41st birthday in style in Lagos, shortly after returning to the country following the conclusion of the Israeli Women’s Premier League.

The centre-back had a photo shoot session ahead of the celebration before cutting her beautiful cake to mark the occasion.

Ebi said she was delighted to celebrate another birthday.

“I’m grateful to God for another birthday celebration,” she told PUNCH Sports Extra on Wednesday.

Ebi, one of Nigeria’s longest-serving footballers, joined Israeli side Bnot Netanya from NWFL club Naija Ratels in January.

She is the first African footballer to play in six World Cup Tournaments, having featured at the 200320072011 20152019 and 2023 editions of the Women’s World Cup.

Ebi was also a member of the Super Falcons squad for the 2008, 2010, 201220142016 and 2018 editions of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations, winning the tournament four times in 201020142016 and 2018.

The Delta-born defender, in an earlier interview with The PUNCH while she was 40, said training and sleeping helped her stay fit.

She said, “I will say first of all, I like training, I like to sleep a lot, because I feel when I sleep, I get back my strength. Also, I try to mind my business because I know there are so many negative things out there. You need to stay healthy and fit to still be active at 40.

I just follow my body and I follow my strength every day and every second. For now, I am just enjoying every moment and being disciplined in what I eat, what I do, how I feel, and how I react, that’s just it.”
