Ighalo completes Al-Wehda switch

Nigerian striker, Odion Ighalo, has extended his stay in the lucrative Saudi Pro League, after completing a summer move to Al-Wehda, PUNCH Sports Extra.

The 34-year-old signed a two-year deal after undergoing a successful medical at the club.

Announcing his arrival, Al-Wehda wrote, “Ighalo welcome to Al-Wehda.”

Ighalo who has been playing in Saudi Arabia since February 2021, when he joined Al-Shabab in a sensational move from Manchester United before later making a switch to Al-Hilal.

The Nigerian striker, who netted an impressive 52 goals in 71 games in the Saudi Pro League for both Al-Shabab and Al-Hilal, will aim to continue his good run with Al Wehda.

Prior to his move to Saudi Arabia, Ighalo had featured for Lyn Oslo, Udinese, Granada, Watford and Manchester United.

Al Wehda, who lost 1-0 to Al-Riyadh in their opening league game, finished 13th last season.

Ighalo, who last featured for the Eagles in their 1-1 draw against Ghana in the 2022 World Cup qualifying playoffs, finished as top scorer in the qualifiers for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations, after scoring seven goals.

He also followed that up by also emerging as the tournament’s top scorer in Egypt with five goals.
