Coach of Remo Stars, Daniel Ogunmodede, is thrilled after his side claimed a hard-fought 1-0 win over hosts Gombe United on NPFL match-day two.
Our correspondent reports that Andy Okpe’s 88th minute strike sealed the win.
Speaking after the game on Thursday at the Pantami stadium in Gombe, Ogunmodede disclosed that Remo came to Pantami stadium with the sole aim of winning and occupying top spot in Group A of the abridged league.
Remo are second with maximum six points, with Bendel Insurance occupying top spot on superior goals difference.
“It (win in Gombe) means we will be at the top of the table and that is what we want to do, we came here with a plan to win the game. We won and it’s good for us,” Ogunmodede said.
The game ended under a tensed atmosphere as the players were escorted out of the stadium by security personnel for fear of being attacked by disappointed home supporters.
