German Bundesliga side, Borussia Mönchengladbach, have identified Southampton striker, Paul Onuachu, as a potential signing to bolster their attack following the imminent departure of Marcus Thuram and reinforcement for ageing club veteran, Lars Stindl.

After the expiration of the contract of Thuram, Die Fohlen are set to dive into the market to get a new forward to rival Allasane Pléa for competition in the squad.

The 29-year-old forward has also attracted interests from other Bundesliga sides like Union Berlin and VfB Stuttgart.

Onuachu joined Southampton in January, but he failed to sparkle as the Saints suffered the drop. Onuachu didn’t score any goal in 11 appearances for the relegated side, starting just five of those games.

Before joining the Saints, he enjoyed a stellar spell in Belgium, where he scored 85 goals in 134 games for Genk in the Belgian Pro League between 2019 and 2023.

It was rumoured the striker had a clause to leave Southampton if they got relegated, but it remains to be seen whether they will cash in on the man they got for £15m on a three-and-a-half-year deal.

With Marcus Thuram set to sign for Milan, Onuachu will be a central figure for The Foals in attack, and his aerial advantage will be a boost to help exploit the defences of other Bundesliga teams.
