Premier League club, Wolverhampton Wanderers, will make a move for Leicester City striker Kelechi Iheanacho should Matheus Nunes leave this summer, Football Insider reports.
Iheanacho, who has been a prominent part of Leicester City 100 per cent winning start in the English Championship, is being linked with several EPL clubs like Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest.
Iheanacho, 26, is deemed important to relegated Leicester’s bid to return to the Premier League but Gary O’Neil has made him one of his top transfer targets.
However, the Foxes do not want to lose Iheanacho but they know he will be available on a cut-price deal with his contract set to expire next summer.
“Wolves have identified him (Iheanacho), as well as three other potential striker signings, as a realistic late-window target,” the report read.
“A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the Molineux club’s Midlands location could give them the edge in a potential race for Iheanacho’s signature.”
The 26-year-old has managed one goal and two assists in five appearances totalling 293 minutes of action so far this season. He scored eight goals and five assists across 35 appearances last season as the Foxes were relegated from the Premier League.
Just two seasons earlier, Iheanacho found the back of the net 19 times plus seven assists in 39 games as the Foxes lifted the FA Cup.
The 26-year-old cost Leicester a reported fee of £25m in 2017, when he joined from Manchester City.
Iheanacho will aim to make his 25th Carabao Cup appearance when Leicester City take on Tranmere Rovers on Tuesday (today).
The Nigeria international has scored 10 goals so far in the competition.
