Super Eagles goalkeeper Francis Uzoho put up a man-of-the-match performance for his side against Manchester United at Old Trafford in the UEFA Europa League clash on Thursday night.

The Nigerian keeper made an outstanding 12 saves for his Omonia Nicosia side but was unlucky to concede a late goal in the 93rd minute in their 1-0 defeat at Old Trafford.

Speaking in his post-match conference, the 23-year-old Nigeria international and Manchester United fan said was delighted with the opportunity to play at Old Trafford.

“It’s a dream come true for me, I have dreamed to play at Old Trafford for a long time so when I saw the draw and I figured that I would be playing at Old Trafford, I prayed to God to get an opportunity to play, so I got it and am happy I played here,” Uzoho told BT Sport.

Uzoho had only played 134 minutes so far this season but produced a string of stunning saves for his Omonia Nicosia on the night.

” I am not disappointed with the result because we had a great game, I would have preferred for us to get at least a point. But I am happy, it’s not an easy stadium to play with these big players.”

Speaking further if that was the best performance of his career, Uzoho responded:

“Arguably, yes I think so. I am proud of my teammates because it was not a one-man job. We gave everything out there in the field, so like I said earlier I am happy with my performance.”

Omonia manager Neil Francis Lennon also praised the Nigerian for his brilliant performance.

“Very proud of Uzoho, he was just world-class today.”
