Kamaru Usman’s brother Mohammed suffered his first UFC defeat to Mick Parkin at UFC Vegas in their heavyweight bout at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Usman became victorious in The Ultimate Fighter Season 30, winning the prestigious tournament to announce himself in the heavyweight division.

The 34-year-old went on to win two consecutive UFC bouts in the division and these victories elevated Usman to the status of a possible heavyweight contender in the near future.

Parkin’s unbeaten 7-0 record, which includes two wins inside the UFC, was also at risk during the clash and there was only one streak that could go on. Ultimately, the Manchester-born Parkin prevailed in a tight call to extend his record to 8-0.

Usman got a good hold of Parkin early, knocking the British fighter backward against the fence. Despite this, Parkin bounced back and managed to withstand Usman’s insane attack.

Usman’s single, powerful right hand only managed to snap Mick’s head back and it appeared that Mohammed had caused more harm through one round but one minute in, Parkin scored the first huge right of the second round, smashing Usman just behind the ear.

Despite Usman cutting Mick’s forehead once, it was still difficult for either man to distance himself from the other during their violent clashes.

Mohammed demonstrated effective body punching and they might have been tied going into the third round of cards and Usman appeared to have slowed Parkin down a little bit in the third round, as he made significant progress on the Brit’s body.

Despite this, Parkin continued to fight, keeping up with a fighter who was pushing forward a lot.

Usman’s initial surge of energy appeared to have decreased, but in the second half of the last round, he still appeared to be making the bigger strokes and throwing with greater intensity.

For the majority of the last round, there were 50/50 striking exchanges, with Parkin landing most of his strikes through leg kicks.

Mick finished the battle with a few hard punches, and it must have been enough to convince the judges because all three handed him the victory with a score of 29-28, maintaining his perfect record and stopping Usman’s unbeaten run in the UFC.
