Swedish second division side, Nordic United FC, lead the race to sign Nigerian goalkeeper, Kingdom Osayi, this summer, PUNCH Sports Extra has learnt.
Osayi has been one of the highly-rated goalkeepers in the NPFL since joining then newcomers Doma United last season.
The keeper, who turns 20 June 3, has the highest number of clean sheets this season (13) in the Nigeria Premier Football League.
A close source to the player, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said two teams in Sweden’s topflight division have also entered the race to sign Osayi but a decision on his future will be made on Friday (today).
“Nordic United FC are leading the race to sign Osayi but there two other teams who also want him in the summer. So, we are going to find out the options by Friday (today),” our source said.
“Yes (Osayi) has been here for a month now. We are in the final stage of deciding if he will be back by summer or he will be signed immediately.”
Our correspondent learnt that in his absence, Doma United have been without a win in their last 10 league games, a run of form that has seen them drop from third position to 10th place.
Should Osayi leave Doma for Sweden this summer, he will become the second player from the club to move to Europe after Emmanuel Ekpeyong joined Swedish side Orgryte IS FC – a second division side for an undisclosed fee.
The 19-year-old forward has since been unveiled by his new club.
The former U-20 player featured in 15 games for Doma United during the first half of the 2023/24 NPFL season scoring twice for the Savannah Tigers before his move.
