UFC middleweight champion Israel Adesanya has revealed that suya is his favourite food while appearing as a guest on the Flagrant Podcast.
With hosts Andrew Schulz and Akaash Singh, the 33-year-old also spoke about the better jollof rice between ‘Ghana jollof’ and ‘Naija jollof’.
Over the years, there has been a rivalry of sorts between Ghana and Nigeria and the rivalry between the two nations always sparks interesting discussions on social media on anything from football between the Black Stars of Ghana and the Super Eagles of Nigeria to musicians and food.
Adesanya responded to a question by Schulz about jealousy as a Nigerian based on the recent growth of Ghana.
The UFC champion, who recently dropped his Style Bender documentary film, debunked jealous claims and then talked about the superiority of Nigerian jollof rice.
“We ain’t jealous; also jollof rice came from Nigeria,” Adesanya said.
Adesanya was then asked by Schulz about a chicken skewer dish from Nigeria, to which he explained that it was ‘Suya’ made from Goat meat and it is one that he takes.
“So yeah no no it’s not chicken it’s normally goat meat or beef nose,” the Nigerian-born fighter said.
“Suya is the best food that’s my favorite food on the planet because also I’ve had it in America.”
After his victory against Brazilian MMA star Alex Pereira in his last outing, Adesanya is expected to return to the Octagon before the end of the year.
The two-time middleweight king will likely face the winner of the eliminator between South African MMA star Dricu Du Plessis and Robert Whittaker later this year in Australia.
