Wife of the Edo State Governor, Mrs Betsy Obaseki, has commended the organisers of the Sportsville Awards, which holds Saturday (today) in Lagos.
Obaseki, one of the recipients of the prestigious Award, spoke moments after arriving Lagos for the ceremony on Friday.
The award is being bestowed on her courtesy of her pet project, the Betsy Obaseki Women Football Tournament, which she been using to empower the girl-child in Edo State and the nation as whole.
Obaseki, while commending the organisers of the awards, said, “For me, this is a soul-lifting award. I am happy some people somewhere are taking note of what we are doing in Edo State.
“That an organisation as credible as Sportsville is keeping tabs with what we are doing to empower the girl-child, using sports, makes this special.
“I feel so excited that BOWFT is growing every year and the dividends are already emerging.
“That I’ m in Lagos to personally receive the award shows what it means to me. To the organisers, I say a big thank you. I also want to use this opportunity to thank all the corporate bodies and individuals that made BOWFT a huge success.”
