To ensure that the youths actively participate in sports and benefit from it, the All Progressives Congress House of Reps candidate for Oredo Federal Constituency, Osaro Obaze, has said the provision of facilities and supporting of talents are key.
At a media parley on Thursday, Obaze, a former Chairman, Oredo Local Government Area, Edo State, said when elected he would work with other stakeholders to put adequate sports facilities in place in the local government.
He said the move would galvanize youth participation in sports and ensure that talented athletes are encouraged. He noted that he has a team that would liaise with academies in the local government to discover talents that would be supported to international level.
He said sports would become a veritable tool for youth empowerment, noting that the proposed facility would be built at a location were it could be easily accessible to the youths.
He said, “My passion for the youths will see me provide sports facilities in Oredo so that they can engage in what they are passionate about. It will help them develop their talents so that they can become stars in future.
“I will also advance legislation that will propel the sports industry in the country. This I believe will contribution significantly to the human capital development of my people,” he added.
