Following the imminent departure of Swedish striker Alexander Isak English Premier League side, Newcastle, Spanish club, Real Sociedad have identified Nigeria international Sadiq Umar as his possible replacement.
The Almeria striker has been sought after by several clubs in Spain with Villarreal, Sevilla, and Getafe among some of them.
Isak flew into England on Wednesday night ahead of completing his £60m move to Newcastle and is set to undergo his medical.
His departure will leave a gap in Real Sociedad’s attack, and according to a Spanish publication, Eldesmarque, the Anoeta Stadium landlords have turned their attention to the Nigerian.
“With the gap that remains in attack, the name of Umar Sadiq reappears in the offices of the Reale Arena,” the website wrote.
“The Almería striker, the star of his team for several seasons, is on the agenda of many other teams. However, Real could have taken a step forward to sign him.
“As reported by Canal Sur, the txuri urdin club have presented an ambitious offer for the attacker that would be around €18m. We will have to wait for news in this regard, which will not be long in coming taking into account the short space of time available to the clubs to carry out their operations.”
Sadiq has become one of the most important players at the club, playing a major role as the Rojiblancos secured promotion to the top division as champions of the Segunda Division after eight years of asking.
During his spell with the club, the Nigerian has scored 39 goals in 76 La Liga 2 appearances, also registering 19 assists in the process.
Former Roma frontman Sadiq opened his LaLiga goals account on Monday in a 1-1 draw against Elche.
