Nigerian sprinter Favour Ofili is delight after winning the South Eastern Conference 200m event on Sunday.

Ofili continued her brilliant 2023 season after winning her first SEC 200m gold medal, clocking 22.52secs, the fastest time in the second final at the championships.

The Louisiana State University student is hoping to return at a faster time in the next race and surpass her 200m Indoor Personal Best and African record of 22.36secs.

Ofili ran a new 22.36secs to win the women’s 200m heat event at the Tiger Paw Invitational two weeks ago.

The African Games silver medallist surpassed her Indoor Personal Best and 200m African =record of 22.46secs.

“It’s good to come here and win the gold. I understand the time isn’t that fast, but we are working on getting faster,” Ofili said in an on-track interview posted on her school’s Twitter page.

“The time is going to show one day, but I’m happy I am living here with something.”

Ofili, a Commonwealth Games silver medallist, also competed in the 60m final but finished sixth in 7.24secs, her slowest time in the event this season.
