The Super Eagles will land in Abidjan on Wednesday (today) ahead of their first match at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, which holds from January 13 to February 11 across six venues in the West African country.

Jose Peseiro arrived Lagos from their training camp in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates on Tuesday and will proceed to Ivory Coast today, four days before their first game against Equatorial Guinea on Sunday.

The team will be lodged at the Pullman Hotel, Abidjan, the same accommodation as archrivals Ghana.

The players and officials of the team were also hosted to a send forth dinner by the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Tuesday evening.

They spent a week in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where they camped for the tournament.

Peseiro’s side played two pre-tournament friendlies while in camp but their performance has done little to inspire confidence in their fans.

They routed a local club Al Gharib 12-0 on Sunday and then lost 2-0 to the Syli Stars of Guinea on Monday. The performance against Guinea has been criticised by fans and stakeholders alike.

After facing Equatorial Guinea on Sunday, the Eagles will play hosts Ivory Coast on Thursday January 18 before finishing their group campaign against Guinea-Bissau on Monday January 22.

Nigeria are seeking a fourth AFCON title after triumphs in 1980, 1994 and 2013.
