Sanusi on Everton radar

Nigerian defender Zaidu Sanusi has turned up on English club Everton’s radar in the ongoing transfer window, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

According to A Bola, the Toffees were among a host of European clubs who sent their scouts to Portugal for the fiercely-competed match between FC Porto and Sporting on Saturday.

Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich and FC Barcelona were among those with scouts in attendance as Porto ran out 3-0 winners in one of the biggest derby games in Europe.

There are two players who have been previously reported to be on the Toffees radar who played important roles in the well deserved victory.

Record had reported that left-back Sanusi was a player that Everton were keen on signing although they would face competition from Fulham, Crystal Palace and Brighton.

O Jogo had also reported that winger Otavio Edmilson was of interest to Frank Lampard and has a release clause of £51m that the Portuguese side are sticking to.

Now a double swoop for both players is on the cards as the Toffees attempt to put together a package deal for both Otavio and Sanusi in what would be a bank-breaking move for Everton unless a big sale or two were to happen before the transfer deadline.

Both players would need a lot of convincing to make the switch as they are already important players at a club that regularly competes in the Champions League.

However, if Everton want to catapult themselves into a position their new stadium commands, they have to make big moves and these players present a suitable option.

Even if no move materialises right now, it can’t be ruled out in the future.

Should the Toffees complete a move for Sanusi before the window closes on September 1st, this would give Sanusi a chance to play with compatriot Alex Iwobi at the Merseyside.
