Salernitana have officially dismissed coach Davide Nicola following the club’s embarrassing 8-2 loss to Atalanta.

The Campania outfit currently sit 16th in the Serie A table after 18 games, picking up just four wins and six draws. The team’s last win in the league came at the end of October, when they picked up a 3-1 upset over Maurizio Sarri’s Lazio. Since then, Salernitana have only picked up two points from six games.

As announced by Salernitana, Nicola has been officially dismissed as first team coach, bringing his time in the dugout to an end. The 49-year-old Italian took over in February 2022 and picked up 1.06 points per match on average since his arrival, helping the side avoid relegation last season.

The Partenopei will face league leaders Napoli in their next outing on Saturday January 21st, an incredibly tough match. After that, they’ll play Lecce on January 27th, an important clash in their bid to avoid a relegation battle.
