Rivers United defender Morice Chukwu says the 3-0 win over ASEC Mimosas in their second group game of this year’s CAF Confederation Cup has restored their confidence as they look to advance in the continental tournament.

Malachi Ohawume, Williams Ukeme and Cameroonian Denis Ndasi were all on target to see off the Ivorians.

Morice who hails from Akwa Ibom where the match was played reckoned that the NPFL champions are capable of making any ground their home despite having to okay their home games at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo after the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt was not approved by CAF.

It was a good game. We were looking for goals because that will give us the points.

Before the game, we knew we had to approach it as a final. So we had to make up for the goals we have conceded and we are looking at more victories ahead,” Morice said after the game.

“Not only here, we take every ground as our home and we believe we can go higher,” he added.

Rivers United are now second in the group with three points and a point behind Diable Noirs.

The reigning NPFL champions will honour an outstanding match-day seven league game against Bayelsa United on Wednesday before travelling to face Motema Pembe in their next Confederation Cup game on Sunday.
