Nigeria Professional Football League champions, Rivers United, have got their campaign in this year’s CAF Confederation Cup back on track with a comprehensive 3-0 win over Ivory Coast’s ASEC Mimosas in their second group match at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo on Sunday.

Two first-half goals by Malachi Ohawume and Williams Ukeme plus another one in the second half by Denis Ndasi did the job for the Pride of Rivers who were humbled by Diables Noirs of Congo Brazzaville on match-day one.

Ohawume stuck the nose of the hosts in front inside the first minute of the game after connecting a pass from Nyima Nwagua.

Nwagua was the provider again with a layup for Ukeme who riffled home to make it two before halftime while Ndasi headed the third goal home three minutes after the restart to take the game beyond the visitors.

Rivers United now have three points from two matches and will travel to face Congolese side Motemba Pembe next Sunday
