Paris Saint-Germain are reportedly contemplating a future move for Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante.
The French giants have made a number of significant changes this summer, including appointing Christophe Galtier and Luis Campos as the club’s new head coach and football advisor respectively.
That has led to a notable change of approach in the transfer market with the pair having focused their attention of signing younger players.
Nordi Mukiele, Vitinha, Renato Sanches and Hugo Ekitike have all made the switch to the Parc des Princes during the summer transfer window, which closes on Thursday.
Nevertheless, it appears that the Ligue 1 leaders will give consideration to moving away from that strategy should an opportunity arise in the future.
According to The Times, PSG still have Kante on their shortlist ahead of attempting to negotiate a deal in 2023.
The World Cup winner has less than 12 months remaining on his Chelsea contract and it is far from a certainty that he will pen fresh terms at Stamford Bridge.
The 31-year-old has just started his seventh season with the West Londoners having made a total of 262 appearances in all competitions since 2016.
Kante has won the Premier League, Champions League, Europa League, FA Cup and EFL Cup during that time, while Thomas Tuchel has frequently described him as the team’s “key player”.
However, at a time when Kante will not be short of admirers, Chelsea are also in the process of reducing the age of their squad.
Furthermore, Kante continues to pick up injuries on a regular basis, the latest coming earlier this month when he sustained a hamstring injury which will keep him sidelined until after the international break.
The former Leicester man had previously impressed against Everton and Tottenham Hotspur before suffering his latest issue during the closing stages of the latter.
Chelsea also have fellow central midfielder Jorginho who has less than 12 months left on his existing deal.
