Former Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro, is making headlines again following news that the Portuguese tactician is interested in coaching Premier Soccer League side, Kaiser Chiefs, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Despite leading Nigeria to the final of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast, where the Eagles lost 2-1 to the hosts in a nervy final at the Alassane Ouattara Ebimpé Olympic Stadium in Abidjan, the Nigeria Football Federation and Peseiro could not reach an agreement on the future of the Portuguese.

The 63-year-old immediately after vacating his post as the Eagles coach claimed that he already had offers from about seven teams but insists he needs a break from football.

He was also in the running for Algeria job after Djamel Belmadi was sacked following a poor outing at the AFCON.

However, the Algeria Football Federation opted to appoint Vladimir Petkovic as their next manager.

Now, Peseiro has been linked with the Kaizer Chiefs job as he weighs his options.

“Jose Peseiro is a highly qualified coach who can do a good job at a big club like Chiefs. He is interested in the job and coaching in the PSL Is something that he has always thought about,” a source at the club was quoted saying by Soccer Laduma, a South African website.

“As the search for a new job is ongoing for him, Chiefs is one of the clubs that he has been recommended to. There are interested clubs in the coach from Morocco and Egypt, but he would like to come to South Africa in his next move.”

The Soweto giants are expected to make technical team changes at the end of the season, with interim coach Cavin Johnson likely to return to his role as the Head of Youth Development Academy, while a new coach is expected to be appointed by the club.
