According to Spanish journalist, Pedro Pablo Parrado, Real Madrid president, Florentino Perez, has contacted Villarreal president, Fernando Roig, to enquire about Nigeria international, Samuel Chukwueze.

The Nigerian has been on the radar of the Spanish giants after his impressive display at the Santiago Bernabeu this season, when he guided the Yellow Submarine to a 3-2 victory in the Spanish League last month, scoring twice and providing the assist for his side’s third goal.

The 23-year-old’s contract at the Estadi de la Ceràmica is due to expire in the summer of 2024 and both parties have not agreed on new terms for renewal, which makes his move in the summer very realistic.

Chukwueze, who has a transfer release clause set at €100m, has attracted a great deal of interest following his impressive performances for Villarreal this season, with the winger contributing 13 goals and 11 assists in all competitions.

Aware of the stiff competition from other clubs, with Newcastle United the latest to join in the chase for the Nigerian, Madrid have made enquiries about the player ahead of the summer.

“According to journalist Pedro Pablo Parrado, who collaborates in particular with Marca, the Merengue boss inquired with his counterpart Fernando Roig about the situation of the Nigerian winger,” maxifoot, a Spanish tabloid wrote.

The player has been with the Yellow Submarines since joining from Nigeria’s Diamond Academy in August 2017.

Chukwueze is listed among the top five prolific players in LaLiga since 2022.
