According to transfer market expert, Fabrizio Romano, Premier League side Manchester United’s signing of Nigeria intentional Victor Osimhen will depend on the new owner’s budget for the summer transfer window.

There has been pressure from the fans about the continued 18 years of Glazer ownership of United as over a thousand supporters protested at Old Trafford on Sunday ahead of United’s clash against Aston Villa.

Indeed, United’s most recent title came in the 2012-13 season, which was Alex Ferguson’s final season of management before his retirement.

This title drought has been compounded by the fact that city rivals, Manchester City, have claimed the Premier League trophy on five occasions within the period.

In their efforts to revive the team, Napoli striker Osimhen has been linked with a move to Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old Serie A top scorer has been outstanding this season and has scored 21 goals to help the Parthenopeans maintain an 18-point lead and one match to win their first Scudetto since 1990.

But the Italian football expert in his YouTube broadcast claimed that how much the club can spend will depend on the new owners and their financial plans for the summer.

“The New owners of Manchester United are in advanced negotiations but it’s up to the Glaziers family to decide on the future they want around £7bn to sell Manchester United,” Romano said.

The Italian pundit further said after a successful first season, Manchester United manager Eric Ten hag wants to begin plans for the 20223/24 season but wants to know the direction of the new owners ahead of next season and summer transfer plans.

“Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag is waiting to understand the future of the club and wants to plan for next season as soon as possible. The feeling of those close to him is that the Dutch manager wants to build from this season’s achievements and prepare for next season.

“But for their new signings, it’s not certain as Ten Hag is waiting on the new owners as regards the budget Manchester United will be spending in the transfer market.

“And the club’s intention is clear. They want to shop for a new striker in the summer and Karry Kane is one of the top options in their list aside from Victor Osimhem, but it depends on the budget and how much Manchester United can spend in the summer.

“At the moment, there are no negotiations for Kane, it depends on Tottenham, same for Victor Osimhen as United are still waiting for Napoli to put the price on Osimhen.

“Same for Chelsea, PSG, Bayern – they are together with Manchester United in the race for Victor Osimhen.”
