Doma United coach, Akinade Ongbinde, has been named among the nominees for the League Bloggers Coach of the Month for March and April in the abridged 2022/23 Nigeria Professional Football League, following the impressive run of his team, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Onigbinde was named for the first time along with the two-time winner and Bendel Insurance coach, Monday Odigie; Enyimba’s Finidi George as well as Daniel Ogunmodede of Remo Stars.
Just like his club, Doma United, Onigbinde is making his bow in the 2022/23 NPFL and the club has enjoyed a sensational run as they are currently well-positioned to make top three in Group B.
In a chat with our correspondent, Onigbinde expressed delight about his recognition and stressed that his team are not carried away by the possibility of making the Super 6.
“It’s an honour to be recognised among the best coaches in the league at the moment and the credit goes to everyone that has been putting in every sweat for Doma United this season,” Onigbinde told PUNCH Sports Extra.
“Like I have said before, we are not under any pressure. We just want to take every game one after the other and we will embrace the outcome at the end of the regular season.”
The LBA award for both months are combined following the short schedules in March which only saw two match days.
In the period under review, Onigbinde guided Doma United to four wins, one draw and one defeat in six matches. Their other game in April against Rivers United was postponed and due to be rescheduled.
