Former Super Eagles B star Ibrahim Olawoyin has expressed his excitement after he opened his goals account with Caykur Rizespor in the Turkish division one league, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Olawoyin opened his scoring account for his new club in their emphatic 5-1 win over Yeni Malatyaspor on Saturday, a win that takes them one point within promotion.

Following his switch from fellow Turkish Lig One side Ankara Keçiorengucu to Rizespor last month, the player scored on his home debut two weeks ago but saw his goal chalked off by the Video Assistant Referee.

There was however no denying the former Enugu Rangers star on Saturday when he opened scoring for Rizespor in the six-goal thriller decided at the Çaykur Didi Stadium.

Shortly after seeing Ugandan star Farouk Miya fail to convert from his brilliant cutback, a rebounded cross then fell to Olawoyin at the edge of the box in the 20th minute, which he volleyed into the bottom right with his weaker left foot.

Moved by his goal, which was ruled out by VAR two weeks ago, the player took to his Twitter page to celebrate his first goal for his new club, “VAR got no say on this! Alhamdulilah for my first goal in Blue colour! Onto better things.”

Olawoyin’s goal was the tonic his team needed as they added four more goals through Yannick Bolasie, Miya and Alper Potuk to clinch the game 5-1.

Olawoyin, who now has five goals and seven assists this term, was substituted alongside his fellow Nigerian Okechukwu Azubuike in the 75th minute as Rizespor coach Bulent Korkmaz look ahead to their next game, a difficult trip to table toppers Samsunspor.
