Enyimba striker and league top scorer Emeka Obioma has been passed fit for the club’s second game against Lobi Stars on Monday (today) in the 2022/23 Nigeria Professional Football League Super 6 playoffs in Lagos, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Obioma was stretchered off in stoppage time of their frenetic opening game against Remo Stars on Saturday after going down under a challenge.
The striker converted a penalty to restore Enyimba’s lead in the game, before Junior Nduka levelled matters for Remo Stars in the thrilling 2-2 draw, which opened the playoffs.
Enyimba coach, Finidi George, confirmed after the game that the striker was taken off as a precaution, but awaits further assessment.
“He had some heavy legs, so, we had to take him off. But we will see how to get him ready for the next game,” Finidi told our correspondent.
The striker also confirmed to our correspondent that he is available to continue his goal-scoring streak with the People’s Elephant.
“I will play. It’s not something serious,” Obioma said.
Obioma, who scored 14 goals during the regular season to emerge the top scorer, already has a goal to his name in the playoffs.
He will hope to add more to his tally as Enyimba attempt to revive their continental and title ambitions with Monday’s (today) game.
The match kicks off by 2pm and will be followed by Rivers United versus Remo Stars clash, while Bendel Insurance will take on Sunshine Stars in the last game of the day.
