In terms of goal scoring for teams, attackers are usually the suspects for teams. Only in rare cases have defenders been able to get some numbers, especially assists.
However, Plateau United defender, Emmanuel Ifeanyi is blazing the trail in the NPFL this season with four goals in five matches for the Fidelis Ilechukwu side.
He began by banging two goals in the 3-3 draw against 3SC on match-day one, before following it up with one goal each against Enyimba and Nasarawa United.
His four goals make up 50% of Plateau’s tally so far this season, which is eight goals and few of them have proven crucial for the team.
His second goal against 3SC levelled the game at 3-3, thereby winning a point for Plateau United while he also scored the winning goal for them against Nasarawa United in Kaduna on Wednesday.
Mathematically, those two goals have earned four points out of Plateau’s seven points this season.
As far as defensive duties are concerned, the backline which he plays in as let in eight goals as well but he’s done the most by contributing to attack to make up for the numbers.
