Bendel Insurance have extended their winning streak to five consecutive games in the 2022/23 Nigeria Professional Football League following a 1-0 away win over El-Kanemi Warriors in Maiduguri.

Deputy Etcheta scored the only goal of the game from a solo run in the 2th minute to give Benin Arsenal their third win on the road this season.

The victory means Insurance remain as the only team yet to drop any point this season as it tops Group A of the abridged league with 15 points in five games.

Meanwhile in Ibadan, coach Azeez Mohammed of Kwara United will heave a sigh of relief, thanks to his side’s hard fought 2-1 win over Akwa United in Ibadan.

Wasiu Alalade netted the opening goal of the game as well as Kwara’s first goal this season with just 14 minutes on the clock, but the Harmony Boys were pegged back by Cyril Olisema’s 69th minute equaliser for the visitors before Ahmed Jimoh secured the elusive first win of the season for Kwara United with an 88th minute goal.

Similarly, Enugu Rangers also secured their first win of the season with a 1-0 win over Dakkada, thanks to a 30th minute goal from Hadi Mohammed,

In Jos, Sunshine Stars FC succumbed to their defeat of the season against Lobi Stars, no thanks to an 88th minute penalty by Joseph Atule.

Elsewhere in Ikenne, Samuel Anaekewe scored the fastest goal of the current season in 27 seconds and that was the only goal Remo Stars needed to edge former champions Enyimba 1-0 and return to winning ways after their loss to Insurance last week.

In other results, Rivers United also continued its strong bid to retain the title at home, beating struggling Wikki Tourists 2-0 thanks to a freekick and another spot kick goal by Ebube Duru in either half of the game.

Meanwhile, the woes of Nasarawa United continued, despite changing their adopted home ground to Kaduna as they suffered a 2-1 defeat in the hands of Plateau United.

The visitors led through Mustapha Ibrahim 20 minutes into the game but King Osanga levelled matters for the Solid Miners before halftime. Plateau defender, Ifeanyi Emanuel however broke the hosts in the 66th minute with his fourth goal of the season to condemn Nasarawa United to their fourth defeat of the season.
