Nigeria Premier Football League side, Sporting Lagos, will face 3SC for the first time in a southwest derby on Monday (today) at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos, needing a win to take them out of of the drop zone, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Winless in their last five matches and with just two wins in the last 10, Sporting Lagos have dropped their guards and sit deep in the red zone, 18th, with 16 points from 17 matches.

Aside from their poor run since November, the Noisy Lagosians are yet to take any bragging rights in the southwest derbies this season. They lost 2-1 against  Remo Stars and 1-0 against Sunshine Stars, although both were away games.

Paul Offor’s side will be hopeful of a positive result at home this time, but it might be difficult to achieve this against 3SC, who have also lost in two derbies against Remo and Sunshine this term.

It’s not the best of times for manager Gbenga Ogunbote and 3SC as well, having just ended a run of six games without a win on match-day 17.

From the viral outrage of their fans on social media, 3SC’s 1-0 win over Bayelsa United in Ibadan wasn’t convincing, and they are demanding more from the Oluyole Warriors.

In other matches slated for today, bottom-place Bayelsa United host Bendel Insurance in Yenagoa, Katsina United entertain Remo at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina, while Lobi Stars face Kano Pillars at their adopted home ground in Lafia.

The game between Rivers United and Akwa United will be played on Tuesday.
