The Rufus Giwa Polytechnic, Owo, Ondo State has assured that there will be adequate security for athletes and officials at the 2023 Nigeria Polytechnic Games Association.

It was gathered that 40 polytechnics will participate at this year’s event.

Speaking on the competition, the Rector of the polytechnic, Dr Gani Ogundahunsi, stated at a press briefing to herald the commencement of the sporting fiesta, that the competition would be hitch-free as adequate measures had been put in place.

He said, “All necessary facilities for the Games have been put in place, while work is still ongoing in some parts of the sports complex of the institution to make the fiesta a memorable one.

“The Games will facilitate national integration, it will bring our youths together for positive ventures that will create opportunities for them.

“NIPOGA is a sporting fiesta that unites 112 polytechnics across Nigeria, both federal and state polytechnics. It will have a positive impact on our image, we are very happy with the games, we are not unconscious of some other issues that are very common with us in the nation now. So, we have as much as we can to take good care of all those things.

“We have a deal with all security agencies in the state, including our security unit on the campus. They will help us monitor the movement of our guests throughout their stay on the campus, while the fiesta lasts.

“We want to assure the people that we have taken care of security issues in Owo, our host community. Security has been beefed up everywhere to protect everyone throughout this fiesta.”
