Nice defender Todibo sent off after nine seconds

Nice defender Jean-Clair Todibo was sensationally sent off just nine seconds into the Ligue 1 clash with Angers on Sunday afternoon.

Nice were hosting Angers in a 2pm kick-off at the Allianz Riviera but made the worst possible start when their centre-back was sent for an early bath.

Angers took kick-off and played it forward quickly with some neat one-touch passing. But then Todibo came in and committed a cynical foul after Abdallah Sima had beaten him to the ball.

The former Barcelona defender was given his marching orders after a clumsy tackle on Abdallah Sima when he was the last man, leading to a swift decision from the referee.

Todibo’s dismissal was the fastest card – yellow or red – shown in Ligue 1 since Opta started collecting data in the league in the 2006/07 season.

He stopped the Senegalese forward darting by taking him out but then the referee shockingly brandished a red card in what felt like a very harsh dismissal.
