Nasarawa United have temporarily moved out of the relegation zone in Group A of the abridged 2022/23 Nigeria Professional Football League, thanks to a 1-0 win over 3SC in Jos on Sunday, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
Nelson Abiam’s 22nd minute goal was the difference between two sides and also marked the first win in eight matches for the Solid Miners. The result also blew the top-three hopes of 3SC who remained on 21 points from 16 matches.
Nasarawa United now have 13 points from 16 matches but are not totally safe, with just a goal difference separating them from 9th-placed Kwara United who face Plateau United on Sunday (today) in Akure.
With two games till the end of the regular season, Nasarawa United’s hope of survival is still hanging in the balance as they need maximum points from those games to stand a chance of playing in the topflight next season.
They will travel to face Kwara United in a relegation battle on match-day 17 before ending the season at home against table toppers Bendel Insurance on match-day 18.
