Nigerian tech entrepreneur and billionaire, Dozy Mmobuosi has congratulated English club, Sheffield United, on their promotion back to the English Premier League, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The Blades secured promotion to the Premier League after they beat West Brom 2-0 at Bramall Lane on Wednesday.

Paul Heckingbottom’s team return to the top flight two years after their relegation to the Championship. The Blades spent two years in a row in the Premier League and despite finishing ninth in the table in 2019-20, they ended up coming in last the following year.

Mmobousi, whose purported takeover of the club is reportedly heading for the rocks gave a shout out to the club via his Twitter page on Thursday.

“A heartfelt toast to Sheffield United on your amazing promotion to the Premier League. The performance against West Brom is proof that dedication and hard work truly pay off. I look forward to witnessing your triumphs in the top flight,” Mmobousi tweeted.

The Nigerian had declared himself as a huge fan of the club after launching his takeover bid in 2022.

He is said to have pumped close to £9m into the Bramall Lane club since November to help the cash-strapped Blades fulfil their financial obligations on the expectation his protracted buy-out would be ratified early in 2023.
