Real Madrid are set to face stiff competition from five Premier League clubs, including Liverpool and Arsenal, for the signature of Nigerian winger Samuel Chukwueze, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Chukwueze has attracted a great deal of interest following his impressive performances for Villarreal this seaso, with the winger contributing 13 goals and 11 assists in all competitions.

The 23-year-old caught the eye of the football world earlier this month when he bagged two goals and an assist in his side’s shock 3-2 victory over Real Madrid at the Bernabeu.

According to Spanish publication, DefensaCentral, Madrid and five Premier League clubs will be competing for his services in the summer.

Everton, West Ham and Aston Villa are also in the mix, though they will struggle to beat off giants Madrid, Liverpool and Arsenal, who can promise European football and pay higher wages.

Chukwueze’s contract expires in the summer of 2024 with a release clause of £88m.

Suitors will be hoping to get him for considerably less than that due to the fact he will be a free agent come the end of the next campaign and Villareal may have to consider a lesser fee.

The player has been with the Yellow Submarines since joining from Nigeria’s Diamond Academy in August 2017.

Four-time African Player of The Year Samuel Eto’o tipped the Nigeria international for big things, saying he is a player who will be at the in a matter of time.

“He is an incredible player who is growing in leaps and bounds and it’s just a matter of time,” Eto’o said.

“He is a quality player and he needs to score more goals, but he has the quality and ability to be more than just a goalscoring forward. Once he gets all of that he will be top.”
