Liverpool have reportedly joined the race for Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Kouadio Kone.
The 21-year-old has previously attracted interest from the likes of Paris Saint-Germain, Bayern Munich and Newcastle United, with the Magpies reportedly having a £30m bid rejected last summer.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the German club and the player’s representatives agree that a summer transfer is more realistic than a January move.
The Italian also states that Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham is still the Reds’ number one target for the foreseeable future, however Jurgen Klopp’s side are understood to be in the market for more than one midfielder with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, James Milner and Naby Keita all out of contract in the summer.
The French midfielder has a contract that runs until 2025, meaning that his signature will not come cheap, with previous reports suggesting that Die Fohlen are looking for a fee of at least £40m.
The former Toulouse man has made 14 Bundesliga appearances so far this season, scoring one goal and assisting another.
