Lagos NAPHER-SD elects new council members

The Lagos chapter of the Nigeria Association for Physical, Health Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance ushered in new executives to lead the association for the next four years on Thursday, 8th of June at the end of a 2-day conference at the Teslim Balogun stadium in Surulere, Lagos State.
The new Chairman for the association is Odior Ketu, Akin Afolarin is the 1st Vice Chairman, while Akande Esther is the 2nd Vice Chairman. Samson Akapo is the new secretary, Omotayo Yemi will be the Assistant Secretary, while Agboola Olaide has been elected as Financial Secretary.
Ann Otoide is the new Treasurer for the association, while Patrick Ibeh takes on the duties of PRO, Williams Johnson will be the Publication Secretary, Busayo Olayemi is the Assistant Publication Secretary, with Ilorii Isaac in position of Welfare 1 while Ogundele Olushola will offer assistance as Welfare 2.
The Director of Sports and Assistant Director of Sports are Awojumobi Oluwaseun and Adisa Ibrahim respectively. With Joyi Sonayon taking the position of Social Secretary, Ajose Noimot will be the Chief Whip while Adebisi Samson is the Chief Whip 2.
For the advisory roles of Ex-Officio 1 and Ex-Officio 2, Hakeem Olukunga and Ige-jenyo Olawale will take on the responsibilities.
The conference was chaired by the Director-General, National Institute for Sports, Prof. Olawale Adeyemo, who adduced the reasons for the conference and emphasized the benefits inherent in the conference theme ‘Catalyzing Lagos State Sustainable Development Dynamics Through School Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sports and Dance’.
According to the Director-General, the conference is a well thought initiative that aims at evolving the profession in the achievement of goals of Lagos State, honing the skills of members across the state and developing the capacity across board.
The Keynote address, delivered by Professor Abiodun Moronfolu, was anchored on the premise that NAPHERSD must galvanized resources to keep pace and help in attainment of the state’s goals.
The conference also witnessed workshop presentation on “Integrating technology into physical education and sports management” by Dr. Boluwaji Gbenga Jaiyesimi. The presenter introduced the participants to various tools and Apps that can be used to facilitate learning and also analysed sports activities.
