The Director General, Lagos State Sports Commission, Oluwatoyin Gafaar, has said that the Keep-Fit-Lagos exercise is promoting the general well-being of the people of Lagos and it will continue to get bigger with the increasing number of participants.
The Second edition of the Keep-Fit-Lagos rounded off at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan Lagos, as a continuation of the every second saturday of the month aerobics programme designed to promote the culture of healthy living.
“People need to come out and exercise themselves as they say health is wealth. This is the only thing we can give our people to stay healthy and we will continue doing what we can do in order to contribute our own quota to the development and well-being of the people of Lagos and Nigeria,” Gafaar said.
He further charged the participants to be conscious of their health status and embracing the culture of regular exercise as the state will not relent on its oars when it comes to the matter of mental and physical stability.
One of the participants, Abayomi Olabisi commended the initiative organised by the government for the opportunity given to the people to engage in regular exercise. She said it is a good idea from the government bringing people together for activities that tends to promote general well-being and managing stress.
According to the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Sports, Damilare Orimoloye, pointed out that “Keep-Fit-Lagos” has become a movement pushing for the overall well-being of the people on every second saturday of the month.
He commended the conscious effort of everyone who contributed to the success of the second edition.”We will build on the momentum, teaching the people how to exercise and importance of managing health.
Oluwatosin Micheal said Keep-Fit-Lagos is a laudable programme designed for the people to be stable bring down the cost of health.
“I give kudos to the government for this tentative and proactive step in addressing all kinds of health challenges. It will also be helpful in cutting down cost of health on the people,” Micheal said.
Adeagbo Adeleke also said it is a privilege for him to be part of Keep-Fit-Lagos exercise held at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos.
He thanked the Lagos State Sports Commission for the exercise and for putting up a wonderful event for the general public to be fit mentally and physically.
