Former two-time heavyweight world champion George Foreman is desperate to see Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua clash in the ring as he believes the British-Nigerian is the only active boxer who can give ‘The Gypsy King’ a good fight.

Foreman fought the best during his time in boxing, from Muhammad Ali and Joe Frazier to Evander Holyfield and Michael Moorer.

Nowadays, however, the big fights happen far less often, but Foreman is hoping that is not the case with Fury and Joshua as they are one of the reasons he still watches the combat sport.

“The one fight I want to see before I close my eyes out of boxing is Tyson Fury vs Anthony Joshua,” the 74-year-old told talkSPORT while promoting his film ‘Big George Foreman’.

“Anthony Joshua is the only guy who can give Tyson Fury a terrible fight – a good fight. Right now, Tyson Fury is the best thing going in boxing but, I love that. Those two guys keep me excited about boxing.”

Representatives for Saudi Arabia’s Skill Challenge Entertainment have confirmed that they are in talks to stage a mega event that would feature Fury vs Oleksandr Usyk and Joshua vs Deontay Wilder on the same night in December.

For the time being, Fury is widely regarded as the best heavyweight in the world and Foreman believes he could have done well in past eras, too.

“That Tyson Fury would have done well in any era,” Foreman added.

“It doesn’t matter who, what, when or where, he would have done well.”
