Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi has been named in Whoscored.com’s Premier League Team of the Week having played a pivotal role in Fulham’s 2-1 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday.
The Hale End Academy product was named alongside Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka and Manchester City star Phil Foden in the team that also featured one of his teammates Bernd Leno.
Iwobi scored a late winner against Manchester United with a brilliant strike which got André Onana rooted to the spot and threw the Fulham fans into wild jubilation.
He finished the encounter with four key passes and one successful dribble to cap what was a laudable performance.
Calvin Bassey has also been recognised for his outstanding performance during the match, with BBC football pundit Garth Crooks naming the versatile defender in his Team of the Week.
After 1,456 minutes without finding the net for the Cottagers, the defender opened his account in the 65th minute to inspire the Londoners to their first win at Old Trafford since 2003.
Liverpool, Arsenal, Manchester City and Aston Villa contributed two players each to the Team of the Week, while Fulham, Crystal Palace and West Ham United have one representative each.
Backing his decision to name Bassey in the Team of The Week, Garth Crooks wrote, “This was an impressive team performance by the Cottagers with Bassey and Tosin Adarabioyo back in the starting line-up and could have played this match in stocking feet.
“Nigeria international Bassey’s goal was a nice finish to an excellent personal performance.”
