Inter Lagos FC poised to redefine football

Nigeria National League side Inter Lagos say they are on course to ignite a fervent movement for local football in Nigeria and Africa with their vision for unity and growth through sustainable sporting initiatives.

Co-founder and CEO of the club, Lanre Vigo, made this assertion during the club’s media launch in Lagos, where the club unveiled its dynamic approach to setting a new standard in football administration.

According to a statement released by their media representative, Fisayo Osindeinde, the event left attendees from the local and African sports media inspired by its ambitious mission.

Vigo noted that the club’s purpose extends beyond the pitch and even the country.

“Our commitment extends far beyond the pitch. We envision Inter Lagos FC not only as a powerhouse in football, but as a beacon of inspiration for our players, moulding them into exemplary individuals who will positively impact society. As we strive for excellence in every match, our ultimate goal is to create a legacy of integrity, resilience, and community engagement, serving as a guiding light for young football enthusiasts across Africa.

“We believe that by instilling values of discipline, teamwork, and perseverance, we can empower our players to become leaders and national references.”

Other members of the club’s board are directors and co-founders Olumide Fayankin and Gatumi Aliyu. The chief operating officer is Oluwatosin Fashoyin while Gabriel Adigwe serves as general manager.

Established in 2023, the club plays its NNL home games at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Lagos, and have enjoyed success in attracting a vibrant fanbase which is also propelling their ambition of promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League.

Ahead of their next home game against Osun United on Saturday, the Gabriel Ezema led side are currently on a six-game unbeaten run and winning their last five matches.

They are currently second in the Conference B table of the 2023/24 league with 16 points after nine matches.
