Nigeria Premier Football League Group A leaders Bendel Insurance arrived in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital Friday afternoon ahead of Sunday’s NPFL week seven clash against Shooting Stars Sports Club.
The Benin Arsenal arrived in Nigeria’s largest city at 1:58pm and settled into their hotel after about five hours journey by road from Benin City.
The Group A table toppers aim to continue their unbeaten run in the abridged league season after picking 16 points from a possible 18 in their first six games.
They were held at home to a goalless stalemate in week six against a less-fancied Gombe United after recording five wins in their first five games.
Speaking ahead of the potentially explosive clash at the Lekan Salami Stadium, stand-in captain Amas Obasogie is expecting a tough match against their perennial foes.
The Insurance goalkeeper said they had shrugged off the disappointing performance against Gombe at home and are now focused on the star match in Ibadan.
“We know that Shooting Stars are not an easy nut to crack but they are not unbeatable,” Obasogie said.
“We have respect for them and we know they also respect us. So, it is going to be a clash of the titans.”
Insurance began the new season with victories over Akwa United (2-0), Plateau United (2-1), Kwara United (1-0), Remo Stars (3-0) and El-Kanemi Warriors (1-0) in the first five matches of the season.
