D’Tigers continue their impressive performance in the ongoing friendly tournament in China with a convincing win over highly-rated Serbia, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

The senior men’s basketball team claimed an 81-53 victory over the FIBA world number six ranked team to continue their stunning performance at the championship.

The win came on the heels of another impressive 75-70 win over Team USA in their first game in China.

D’Tigers left the country last Monday for China on a playing tour of games, which began last week and will end October 20.

The team failed in their quest to pick a slot for the Paris 2024 Olympics during the qualifiers held in Lagos last August but is on one of the several developmental programmes of the Nigeria Basketball Federation board led by Musa Ahmadu-Kida.

The China Autumn Tour, which is an all-expenses paid tournament by the organisers in China, serves as a morale booster for the players in both the local league and from other leagues around the world after returning from the self-imposed ban by the Federal Government last year.

In May 2022, the sports ministry, with the approval of the former President, Muhammadu Buhari, withdrew Nigeria from all international basketball competitions for a period of two years, and set up an Interim Management Committee following the lingering leadership rift in the Nigeria Basketball Federation and players agitations for better welfare packages and treatment.
