Minister of Sports Development, Senator John Enoh, has congratulated Nigeria’s men’s volleyball team after they won the President’s Cup at the Africa Men’s Handball Nations Cup, The PUNCH reports.

Nigeria on Friday defeated Cameroon 33-25 to win the President’s Cup and finish ninth at the Africa Men’s Handball Nations Cup in Egypt.

The Golden Arrows, under the tutelage of coach Rafiu Salami, started the match well and won the first half 15-12.

The second half was much more better with the Golden Arrows playing probably their best game in the Nations Cup.

Faruk Yusuf, Hakeem Salami, Daniel Bello and Obinna Anih all proved their worth in the game against the Cameroonians as they took their chances to score important goals that earned Nigeria a rewarding 33-25 victory.

Right-Yusuf was named the MVP of the match.

Reacting to the team’s success, Enoh, on his X handle on Monday while congratulating the team, commended them for their courage.

He wrote, “I felicitate with the national men’s handball team, the Golden Arrows of Nigeria, for defeating Cameroon 33-25 last Friday to win the President’s Cup at the Africa Men’s Handball Nations Cup.

“Our athletes put up bravery and always stared down the potential of failure. They are not thwarted by the opposition. With every opportunity given, our athletes give a sense of pride to our nation, and we salute their courage.

“Congratulations Golden Arrows of Nigeria on winning four out of your six matches played at the Africa Men’s Handball Nations Cup. The future is bright for us as a nation in handball.”
