The 2022 Europa League champions, Eintracht Frankfurt, lead the race to sign Gent petit striker Gift Orban, PUNCH Sports Extra reports.
According to a report by Voetbalkrant, other teams jostling to add him to their ranks include Union Berlin and Lille.
The report also revealed that a season loan offer from Turkish champions Galatasaray with an option to buy for €15m the following year was rejected by Gent, who expect a bid in the region of €30m for the 20-year-old striker.
Voetbalkrant also stated that Lille would make the former Stabeak striker their top priority should they sell Jonathan David in the summer.
“The most interested clubs are from the Bundesliga — FC Union Berlin and Eintracht Frankfurt in the lead,” Voetbalkrant stated.
“Galatasaray hoped to move quickly and outdo other teams tracking him by offering to sign Gift (Orban) on a season loan with an option to buy for €15m the following year but it was rejected.
“If Jonathan David departs Lille in the summer Gift (Orban) is the first option.
“Gent want €30m for the Nigerian attacker and clubs from the European top leagues are queuing up to deposit their money in that direction.”
Meanwhile, Premier League newcomers Burnley have ‘taken information’ on Orban — who hit the headlines in the outgoing season for his goalscoring heroics in Belgium and in the Europa Conference League.
The former Stabeak striker, who has been linked with Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur, scored 21 goals in 21 outings this season, including three hat-tricks.
He is expected to make his 22nd appearance for Gent when they take on Standard Liege on Saturday in their final game of the season.
