Nottingham Forest are now willing to sell two 2022 signings in the form of Emmanuel Dennis and Remo Freuler. The summer transfer window is now open and the Reds are keen to reshuffle once again.
According to The Times, Forest are willing to let the two international players leave. Both will be offered out in the hope that clubs come forward and show interest in the duo.
Last summer, the Reds added a whopping 23 players to their squad. Some of those went out on loan but ultimately, it made life extremely difficult for Steve Cooper during the campaign.
Seven more players were signed in January and it ensured Forest had made 30 new additions since winning promotion to the Premier League.
Freuler and Dennis both looked like pretty useful signings on the face of things. Midfielder Freuler is an international and had made 260 appearances for Atalanta as they qualified for Europe most seasons.
Dennis was a different sort of quality being added. He had scored 10 goals in the 2021/22 Premier League season with Watford, although it perhaps quickly became apparent that he wasn’t a signing Cooper had selected.
Freuler cost Forest £7.5m, whilst Dennis cost the Reds around £20m with a series of add-ons thrown in for Watford.
Both players have endured frustrating seasons and probably for different reasons too. Freuler has found life difficult adapting to a style that he’s not suited to; whilst Dennis hasn’t played much football.
Letting them both go does make a lot of sense. Freuler is 31 and won’t have been happy to sit kicking his heels on the bench for the final six games of the season.
As for Dennis, Forest will fancy recouping most of the £20m that they paid for the forward given that he’s still 25 and has showcased that he can score goals in the Premier League.
