Unwanted record: Dennis winless run extends to 12 games

Nottingham Forest are especially keen to sell forward Emmanuel Dennis amid rumoured interest from Leeds United.

Emmanuel Dennis is being primed for the Nottingham Forest chopping block with Leeds United allegedly keen.

That is according to The Athletic, who report that Forest are planning to axe a number of players this summer.

Forest’s signing spree before and during last season means their squad is bloated and some players must go.

Without letting some fringe players go, Forest may find it difficult to conduct their own summer business.

Two players Forest are especially keen to get rid of are midfielder Jonjo Shelvey and attacker Dennis after both failed to live up to expectations.

Forest fans were probably ecstatic when Dennis arrived last summer.

The Nigerian forward had hit 10 goals and six assists for Watford in the 2021-22 campaign, producing impressive Premier League displays.

Forest pounced with a deal worth around £10million potentially rising to £20million, believing that Dennis could thrive at the City Ground.

Sadly for Forest, that just hasn’t happened.

Dennis made next to no impact last season, starting just six league games and mustering only 715 Premier League minutes, recording two goals and two assists.

The 25-year-old isn’t in Steve Cooper’s plans moving forward and we could hardly blame Forest for wanting to get rid after an underwhelming campaign.

One potential exit route is to Leeds United.

PUNCH Sports Extra reports that Leeds are interested in signing Dennis this summer.

The Whites need more attacking quality, especially as the likes of Jack Harrison, Rodrigo, Wilfried Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville are attracting interest.

Leeds are looking to win immediate promotion back to the Premier League and may see Dennis as an instant impact player.

Forest would seemingly be open to a deal but just how much they would want to recoup for his services remains to be seen.
