Leaders Bendel Insurance midfielder Divine Nwachukwu is confident the Benin Arsenal will snatch victory against visiting Enyimba, when both sides clash on match-day nine of their rescheduled Nigeria Premier Football League on Sunday.
Nwachukwu, who has been impressive in the middle of the pack for Insurance, is banking on team unity to overcome the visitors at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium and extend their lead in Group A of the abridged league to seven points, going into the mid-season break.
“We are not afraid of Enyimba and any other team in the NPFL. Remember we met them twice in 2019, when we gained promotion that year and the results showed that we are rivals after barren draws in Benin and Aba,” Nwachukwu said.
“We met again in the NPFL-Dozzy Mmobuosi Pre-season Tournament last year, where they narrowly escaped with a 4-3 win over us.
“We call on our fans and supporters to come out and cheer us to victory against our toughest challengers. They are a big team, highly experienced, but we are going to beat them.”
The star match, originally scheduled to hold on Saturday, was moved forward by a day by the league management body due to the commercial interest of the NPFL, as contained in the notification letter to both teams.
The table toppers clash will be broadcast live by the Nigeria Television Authority.
Unbeaten Insurance occupy pole position in Group A with 20 points from eight games, while Enyimba are second with 16 points after same number of matches.
