Pioneer chairman of Gombe State Sports Commission, Malam Farouk Yarma, says Doma United can make an impact in the Nigerian Professional Football League but charged the club and their fans to remain resolute.

The Savannah Tigers began their debut in the NPFL sharing the spoils with Sunshine Stars at the Pantami Stadium on match-day one.

Charles Chibuke put Doma United in front with their first-ever NPFL goal, after he made the most of Musa Usman’s free kick in the 39th minute. Despite their dominance in the game, the Savannah Tigers’ hope for the three points was dashed in the 90th minute after Yusuf Ibrahim scored a late equalizing goal.

“I can understand how Doma United feels, drawing their first match in the Premier League at home to Sunshine,” Yarma told BSNSports.com.ng

“I would like to urge the Savannah Tigers to remain resolute, the league season has just started. I remain optimistic that the team is good and focused, they’ll surely go places.

“To the fans, maintain your support for the team. No team can excel without the backing of its supporters. Your support matters most. The same appeal goes to the club officials, the players need you to stand firm and give them the best.

“I encourage you all to keep the flag flying and don’t let Gombe State down.”
