The fourth edition of the PwC/NCF U17 Cricket Championship ended on Sunday, with defending champions, South-South, stamping their authority on the competition.

Aside from the dominant display of South-South, which sealed a fourth consecutive win for the ladies and the third for the men’s team, there was room to shine for other exceptional players in the competition as nearly all the teams produced an individual award winner.

In the girls event, Aisha Aliyu from North East emerged Best Behaved, while Precious Simon from North West was the Best Fielder and Kehinde Amusan from South West was named Best Fielder.

The Best Batter was presented to Chinemerem Ihezuo of South-East, while the Most Valuable Player was presented to Lucky Piety of South-South.

The boys event saw Abdullahi Ismail of North-West going home as the Best Behaved while Daniel Joseph of South-West was Best Fielder.

The Best Batter was presented to South-West’s Wale Odukoya for his remarkable 52 runs off 34 balls, which helped his side to 111 runs win over North Central in their second game of the competition. It was the first half a century of this year’s competition and also the first by the South-West since the inception of the tournament.

South-South’s Joseph Omonkhobhio was awarded Best Bowler, with the MVP going to Unity Ogboe (South-South).
