Nigeria’s U20 female football side, the Falconets in the early hours of Friday defeated France 1-0 in the opening match of Group C of the 2022 FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in San Jos, Costa Rica.
Top scorer in the African qualifying series, Flourish Sabastine’s goal gave Nigeria the win over France as the game was suspended after 20 minutes due to heavy rainfall.
The Falconets’ next game is on Sunday August 14 against Korea Republic at the Estadio Alajuela Morera Soto. A win for the Falconets will automatically assure Nigeria in the quarter-finals.
